Meet your pilot at the hangar for a ground briefing: the aircraft, the flight plan, cockpit familiarization, and safety procedures. Then gear up and strap in.
The flight
Takeoff over the Coastal Bend in a real Cold War jet. Maneuvers are flown to your comfort level — from smooth sightseeing along the coast to a proper taste of what a military trainer can do, with hands-on stick time as conditions allow.
Debrief & bragging rights

The aircraft
Aero L-29 Delfín
The Aero L-29 Delfín was Czechoslovakia’s first domestically designed and built jet — and it became the standard trainer for nearly every Warsaw Pact air force. Over 3,600 were built, and generations of Eastern Bloc fighter pilots earned their wings in one. It’s famously docile and forgiving, which made it a great trainer then and makes it a great first jet ride now.
Our jet is the real thing: airframe 892779, delivered to the Bulgarian Air Force in 1968 wearing tactical number 41 red — the same number it carries today. After the Cold War it crossed the Atlantic and was preserved with the Cold War Air Museum in Texas before returning to the sky. It now flies as N72941 from Aransas County Airport.

▸Do I need any flying experience?
None at all. Your pilot handles the flight; you’re there to enjoy it. If you’d like to feel the controls, you’ll get hands-on stick time as conditions allow.
▸How long does the experience take?
Plan on a good part of the day at the hangar — the briefing, suit-up, and cockpit familiarization take real time before you ever taxi, and there’s a debrief and photos after. We’ll confirm your exact flight profile and timing when you book.
▸What should I wear?
Comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes. We provide all the flight gear you need.
▸What if the weather is bad?
Jet rides are weather dependent. If conditions aren’t safe and smooth on your date, we’ll reschedule at no cost.

▸Are there any physical requirements?
The L-29’s cockpit is a genuine military fit: you’ll need to climb in and sit comfortably in a harness. If you’re notably tall or heavy, or have any health concerns, mention it in your booking request and we’ll confirm the fit before you commit.

Ask about video in your booking request — cockpit camera options can be discussed when you book, and your friends and family are welcome to film the takeoff and landing from the ramp.

Absolutely — spectators are welcome at the hangar, and takeoff and landing are worth filming.
